The InCommon Project developed training material for 4 Key Competences (Digital; Personal, social and learning; Civic; Cultural awareness and expression) as well as for the Leadership competence. Those are considered essential for the integration of migrant and refugee women at their host country as well as for their personal development.
Prior to implementing the training and in order to make sure that it covers the needs of both participants and trainers a focus group to evaluate the material took place in DIMITRA’s Education and Consulting premises in Greece. The focus group participants included representatives of migrant and refugee women, social workers that are dealing with the target group of the project, VET providers and counsellors as well as Culture and Arts representatives. The focus group participants found the training material very interesting and relevant and they pointed out that it is very important for the women to be asked what they want during the assessment.
A very important result that came out of the focus group was that many women might not have the chance, or even want, to participate without a male companion, thus it was discussed that in some classes also men would be allowed to attend. Everybody are looking forward to the implementation of the training courses.
