In course of the profiling interviews of the migrant women and the subsequent InCommon training workshops in European Key Competencies, it was identified that several women had never explored the city without an accompanying male family member. Several women had expressed their inclination to actually organise a city excursion with their peer-group and enjoy a natural landscape.
49 participants, including 47 migrant women from Congo, India, Azerbaijan, Somalia, Iran, Afghanistan and Iraq along with their children and local volunteers from Austria participated in this city excursion.
This was a great awareness building visit. The women gained tremendous self-confidence as they walked around the city, all by themselves and without any male family member. The participants identified nature as a universal resource that crosses all country boundaries.
This is an activity that fits with CC1: Connecting with the culture of the host country.
