This activity is a continuation of the InCommon Leadership training and was initiated by the women to continue their peer group learning. This is an ‘open door’ event that is open to all InCommon migrant women and local volunteers. This offers an opportunity to network and discuss about different cultures, migrant women can talk about their own issues and seek support from other women or volunteers from the host community.
Approx. 12-20 persons participated in each of the 6 meetings organised in Villach and Klagenfurt each month. It started as a friendly coffee meeting for women but soon developed into a powerful network and self-help group. Participants share issues, offer solutions and connect with host community. In this picture, migrant women from China, Japan, Bosnia, India, Azerbaijan, Somalia, Iran, Afghanistan and Iraq along with local volunteers from Austria.
This is a continuous, ongoing activity. The invitations are sent via WhatsApp to all InCommon groups including the volunteers in InCommon network. Usually the date and venue of the next breakfast meeting is decided at the end of each meeting. Participants bring food from their own cultures and meeting venue is usually a community centre.
This type of activity is indicated in CC4: Self expression and participation in culture life – expression of creative skills.
