The InCommon Virtual events preparation was a blast for both the participants and the facilitators. Once their topics were announced all the women were very excited to participate. They took their cameras and went around the city to take pictures for the event “My favorite place in my new city” and they went through their recent archives to see the pictures of celebration they took since they arrived, as most of the pictures of their former life were gone, for the event “Celebration”. The most difficult, yet liberating part, for both the facilitators and the women was the preparation for the event “My story”. Women were very emotional sharing their tragic stories of arrival in Greece; however those seemed like something that they wanted to share for a long time, even facilitators that have been with them since the beginning of InCommon activities had not heard their stories before. Fortunately, the preparation and filming for the event “My Voice” evolved in a huge celebration. The Group “Amal” rehearsed the song “Mawteny” and the day of the recording everything seemed like, and actually was, a great celebration for all!!!
