InCommon in Greece is being implemented by DIMITRA Education and Consulting as well as the Municipality of Larissa. Since the beginning of the project several activities have taken place in order to disseminate and promote the project as well as the involvement of Volunteers and migrant/refugee women. The target group that is planned to be most benefitted by the activities of the of the project in Greece, is refugee women which are accommodated in the Koutsohero camp and those that are benefited by the ESTIA project in Larissa and are currently accommodated in houses at the city centre.
Up until now, for the InCommon Project, three events have taken place in order to promote the project to the migrant and refugee women. The events took place in such a way to show to the women that this is designed for them and it is going to help them increase the cultural participation at the host country. The events took place in both premises of DIMITRA as well as cultural locations like the Diachronic Museum of Larissa. The refugee women were very reluctant to participate, due to several reasons like patriarchic society, recent trauma, family obligations, language barriers most of which the Greek partners tried to resolve ie. There was a translator available, the children were welcome to participate, at one of the events, etc.
DIMITRA, during last summer, has also organized 2 events to promote and disseminate the project to the prospect InCommon volunteers. The volunteers were very excited with the prospect of participating further at the InCommon activities and they were willing to further disseminate the Intercultural training for volunteers to other stakeholders that fit the profile of InCommon volunteers. The volunteers obviously kept their promise as the Intercultural trainings for the InCommon volunteers that have taken place at DIMITRA’s training premises during October 2018 was very successful and the volunteers are looking forward to participate to further InCommon Activities.
