On May 14, the facilitator’s workshop was held at the CMICAD headquarters in the framework of the Mingle project: generating social and human capital for third-country nationals.
The workshop, led by Javier Farto, president of Documenta, had a total of eleven participants who, during the day planned the next activities that will be developed in the Mingle project: the Mingling Experiences.
During the workshop, the participants could deepen the project, especially in the methodology of the Mingling Experiences, as well as in the actions carried out until now and the actions that will be developed in the future, in a climate of work and exceptional creativity. Representatives of Santander City Council, Santurban, CMICAD, Feria de las Naciones and Documenta planned and designed the future Mingling Experiences that will be developed during the next months.
The Mingling Experiences that will be carried out are an innovative phase of the project, where through various activities it seeks to discover the shared cultural and social elements between immigrants and locals. These experiences will allow immigrants to meet and bond with local people, sharing feelings and experiences, thus contributing to the accumulation of social capital in the form of networks and personal connections. In addition, it is expected that local people who participate in the Mingling Experiences will benefit in the same way, acquiring better attitudes towards immigrants after discovering all the common points they share.
The Mingle project continues after having carried out various actions with the aim of contributing to the integration of immigrants in the host community. There have been 6 Spanish courses in different levels with 106 participants and 8 workshops in Intercultural Skills for more than 100 immigrants in different places of the region. A successful participation and involvement that is expected to continue with the Mingling Experiences.
