The IGMA3 project develops a guidance methodology for the labour integration of young people at risk. The program is complemented by a training course that enables professionals and workers in the field of youth and employment for the effective implementation of this methodology in their organisations.
The individualized guidance of the young person in his/her personal and professional development, the involvement and participation of the employers in the pathway to employment and the networking of all the organisations involved in the subject are some of the topics addressed in the program. We shared all theses issues with professionals from different organizations of Cantabria in a pilot session held on March 16 at the premises of the Social and Cultural Action Center CASYC in Santander.
The general objective was to test the methodology and check its application through the testimonies and experiences of counsellors, social workers, educators and local development agents. During the day, the participants learned about the igma3 methodology and the e-learning platform of the project, as well as carrying out a group exercise to map business networks and prospect for employment in the region.
The main difficulties highlighted by the participants were the lack of an early guidance focused on professional career in young people and the high number of cases that each counsellor has to attend to meet the requirements of the employment programmes funded by Regional Authorities, in addition to the own difficulties of the insertion of people with low qualification.
On the other hand, group work helped the participants to make visible new areas of employment and businesses in the region, as well as to discuss the type of alliances or collaboration networks.
From DOCUMENTA we would like to thank to all the attendants their involvement and to Caja Cantabria Foundation for hosting the activity.
