GUIDE Project: Case Study Methodology for Guidance Practitioners Training

GUIDE Sdr2Within the framework of GUIDE! “Good Guidance Stories” project, two training workshops aimed to guidance practitioners were carried out in Santander.

On the 21st and 25th March 2013 we worked with two heterogeneous groups of guidance practitioners on the “recognize and respond to clients diverse needs” competence through the case studies methodology.

Within the first stage of GUIDE! European project, the main competences to work as guidance practitioner were identified through a survey which was filled in by professionals from Germany, Spain, Finland, Italy, Ireland and Hungary. Then, in the second phase, six case studies were developed. Each of them is based on the six competences identified as the most important ones by the professionals participating in the survey.

GUIDE Sdr1At this moment, the project is in the third stage, in which the case studies are being tested by professionals in the fields of guidance and training. In Spain, we have tested the case study about the “recognize and respond to clients diverse needs” competence through two training workshops that have been joint by many professionals working in different contexts related to guidance in Cantabria.

Participants in the workshops knew the GUIDE! initiative, learnt from the presented study case, exchanged experiences and discussed about the situation of the guidance nowadays.

GUIDE! partnership are going to make a training package aimed to guidance practitioners’ trainers. This package includes the six case studies written down together with a manual to show how to use this training tool.

DOCUMENTA would like to thank the involvement and active participation of attendants in the workshop and show our gratitude to Caja Cantabria for hosting the activity in its facilities.
