Through Coop-in European project in which Documenta is participating, is being developed an online serious game to introduce social innovation into different activity sectors.
It aims to facilitate the creation and realization of social innovation projects, as well systematic collaboration among stakeholders. This initiative is a door entrance for those learners who are open or plan to start their own social innovation initiatives in their future, as they will already have an idea about real life situations as well as they get an idea about their competencies to be developed.
The frame story of the game is a city with several buildings which represent different activity sectors. It will be a virtual place which reunites the fun of playing with games and usefulness of learning practical social innovation & collaboration skills and competencies for enterprise work based learning facilitators, VET teachers and mentors, and trainers and workers from the field of social business, social inclusion and innovation. The games will be practical and will base on real life scenarios, situations, examples and challenges. Players can collect points and advance in the game by resolving the game tasks successfully. The system will provide immediate feedback, and reward their performance. This will presumably motivate them to solve as many tests as possible. The six themes that will be covered through the mini-games are: what is social innovation, bringing the future forward, developing networks and relationships, collaborative management and co-creation, measuring the impact of investing in social innovation, and going from an opportunity to an idea.
To each topic theoretical background material, useful links and definitions will be available on the site. The learning material is designed to enhance cooperation among potential key actors of social innovation. Therefore, the target group consists of multiple actors: SMEs, corporate trainers, and WBL mentors, among others.
Gamification and the development of the serious on-line game for social innovation have been the central axis of the transnational meeting celebrated on the 24th and 25th of May, in Ireland.
