The Mingle project, in which DOCUMENTA participates jointly with the CMICAD of the Santander City Council, launches the Workshops on Intercultural Skills and Civic and Social Competences for resident immigrants in the community of Cantabria.
DOCUMENTA will give two workshops on Intercultural Skills and Civic and Social Competences at the CMICAD facilities (C / San José nº10) on the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th of May with the purpose of contributing to the objective of the Mingle project: to facilitate active citizenship and improve the integration of immigrants in the host society. In addition to classroom training, visits to the most important social, institutional and cultural resources of the city will be organized.
On 17th April, the language skills training phase was completed with six Spanish courses at different levels and a total of 109 immigrants attended. There was a successful participation and a great reception of this initiative by the immigrant population residing in the community.
The Mingle project is promoted by the European Union through the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund, and up to now, it has already achieved a record of participation in the different phases with more than 200 people among immigrants and locals participating.
In the following months, a series of experiences (MINGLING Experiences), cultural activities or actions between immigrant and local people will also be launched, to continue contributing to the generation of social and human capital, and with the ultimate goal of contributing to the integration of the immigrants in society.
