On April 11th and 12th Documenta has participated in Berlin workshop part of AWB planned activities for the study of the development and functioning of European cities employment policies to promote the employment of long-term unemployed aged 50 and above.
Gsub mbH, German partner of AWB project, presented for study a complete and interesting national employment program called Perspective 50+. This program is being implemented in Germany since 2005 by the numerous job centers disseminated throughout the country. During the workshop the national program was highlighted and afterwards we studied and analyzed more specifically how the given program develops at local level in the city of Berlin.
The program Perspective 50+ is co-finaced by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the Federal Employment Agency of Germany with the aim of integrating long-term unemployed aged 50+ into the labour market. The JobCenters agree on the design and implementation of the project, in particular to on the definition of objectives and the evaluation of the results.
The Project Perspective 50+ has the following specific objectives:
• The activation and long-term integration of older persons in employment with the aim to reduce their need for public assitance.
• Raising Awareness among small and médium enterprises for the target group and support them in adapting to structural economic changes.
Berlin workshop gave to AWB project European partners (Berlin, Hamburg, Vienna, Tampere, Rome, Dublín, and Santander) the opportunity to participate, discuss, share ideas and learn from the model used in Berlin to promote older long-term unemployed into the labour market. The first day we took part in the presentation of the Project insights and we could learn how the project was being developed from the point of view of its main public and private actors. The second day was dedicated to share the opinions, ideas and lessons learnt from the presented model by AWB Project partners.
